The After Sunset Festival is a unique cultural celebration that challenges the idea of Hong Kong’s inevitable cultural loss. Through art, it reframes traditional aspects of our city’s culture and creates new identities for spaces and businesses. The festival connects artists and the public with historical spaces and intangible heritage, fostering community engagement. It explores alternate methods of preservation through an online platform and stimulates discussions on urban development. The festival incubates local artists, raises awareness of small businesses, and aims to preserve traditional culture by using an innovative approach. The core exhibition tells the story of Oi Kwan Barbers, a 60 year old alleyway barbershop in Wan Chai, through the interpretation of HK based artists. Beyond archive, this work expresses the true nature of this heritage site for generations to come. Co-organized by Cheung Chau Wave, In-between Architects & The Fringe Club. Kindly supported by Design Trust / Sponsored by Wallpaper+, ANARTA, Davide Groppi Special Thanks: Oikwan Barbers
